Allegiance Gold review

Allegiance Gold is worth comparing if you want an IRA dealer that identifies several third-party depositories and supports gold, silver, platinum and palladium. Compare Advantage Gold if its recommended custodians matter more, or BullionVault for professional-format vaulted bullion.

Gold IRA Master is part of National Gold Group, one of the companies compared on this site.

What to compare before buying

Compare the metal price with account and storage charges before committing. Allegiance Gold assists IRA buyers, offers qualifying metals and works with third-party depositories. Before you move retirement money, request the exact product, dealer price, named custodian, depository and complete account fee schedule in writing.

Who Allegiance Gold suits

For IRA buyers, Allegiance offers qualifying bullion across four metals: gold, silver, platinum and palladium, subject to custodian acceptance. This range matters if you want to consider more than gold in the same account.

The company also describes direct purchases. That matters to a buyer deciding between holding metal personally and holding it through an IRA, because the same conversation can cover two distinct transactions. Compare them separately: a home-delivered purchase has delivery and personal safeguarding considerations, while an IRA has a custodian and storage arrangement. Neither path turns physical metal into a guaranteed return.

A buyer who wants a fixed and fully comparable total before talking to a representative should prepare questions before committing. Confirm which custodian will administer the proposed account before funding it. Ask for the custodian's name, its agreement and its current charges, and check whether you have a choice. A dealer's own estimate is useful, but the custodian's schedule is the document that explains the actual account charges.

What Allegiance Gold offers

Allegiance offers precious-metals IRA assistance and direct purchases. Allegiance helps customers fund the account and select qualifying metals. The dealer supplies the product, while separate firms run the retirement account and safeguard the assets. Confirm which organization performs each role for your proposed purchase.

A self-directed IRA is an account structure that permits the custodian to administer investments beyond the menu offered by many conventional account providers. It does not remove the tax rules governing contributions, distributions or permitted investments. Before opening one, establish how the new account will be funded, what it will hold, and who will answer account and storage questions after the purchase.

The company also sells metals for direct ownership. A direct order may suit someone who wants delivery and is not seeking IRA treatment for that purchase. Read the actual shipping and transaction terms before paying: ask when a price becomes binding, how payment is confirmed, where the shipment can go, and what happens if a parcel is delayed or lost. An IRA order should follow the custodian's instructions for delivery to the approved storage arrangement instead.

Funding an IRA

You need an eligible source of funds and an appropriate transfer or rollover process before buying inside an IRA. Allegiance Gold assists with eligible rollovers, but an employer plan may restrict when an employee can take a distribution. The sending plan and receiving custodian must confirm the available route for your account.

Funds can move directly from an employer plan, between IRA trustees, or through a distribution paid to you. The procedure and tax consequences differ. The IRS explains the differences in its rollover guidance. Ask both institutions for instructions before requesting a distribution, and get tax advice when the treatment is unclear.

Decide on the amount before completing paperwork. A physical-metals account can carry recurring charges, so moving a very small amount can make those charges a significant share of the holding. Conversely, moving a large proportion of retirement savings into a single asset class concentrates risk. The dealer can describe its service, while your appropriate allocation depends on your full financial circumstances.

You can also ask whether the custodian requires cash in the account to pay annual expenses. If so, a proposed transfer amount and the amount available to buy metal may differ. Put that distinction in the written account estimate. Find out whether depleted cash leads to a separate bill or an asset sale.

Eligible metals and product choices

Gold, silver, platinum and palladium are not automatically eligible merely because the seller offers them. IRA law restricts many collectible metals but makes exceptions for qualifying bullion and coins. IRS Publication 590-B describes those exceptions. Your custodian should confirm that the exact item, not just the metal, can be held in the account.

Allegiance offers coins and bars. When you request a quote, specify the item name, metal, weight, quantity and condition. If a quote contains proof or collectible products, ask why those items are appropriate for your stated goal and request a comparison with a common bullion product if available. The difference in price may be material even when the metal content appears similar.

You should also consider the size of each unit. Several smaller coins may allow you to sell part of a holding without selling a larger bar, but smaller units can have different premiums. Neither format is automatically cheaper or easier to sell in every market. Compare the proposed purchase price and ask for an indicative bid on the same items, while understanding that a future bid can change.

If a representative recommends a product that is unavailable for comparison with another dealer, ask for the underlying metal weight and the total purchase price. Then request a quote for an item both dealers offer. The second quote will not answer every question about service or storage, but it will give you a more useful basis for comparing product prices than two unrelated packages.

Custodian and depository

Ask whether the account uses segregated or commingled storage. Segregated generally means the specific items are kept separately; commingled generally means equivalent holdings are stored together. The contracts determine how the arrangement works, so ask how your ownership is recorded and what would be returned or sold. Storage type may also affect the price. Get both the cost and the operational terms before selecting an option.

Request the vault’s insurance exclusions, valuation and claims process, and confirm who covers transport and records receipt.

A named vault is not a substitute for an account agreement. Read the custodian's authority to charge fees, move assets, value holdings and process a sale. If the dealer recommends a custodian but the fee schedule comes from another organization, reconcile any differences before signing. Ask who to contact if the statement does not match the products on the order confirmation.

What the depository choice changes

Allegiance works with Delaware Depository, Brink's and IDS. The custodian records and storage agreement govern the actual location, allocation and insurance for a holding. That distinction matters: a list of providers is not a promise that all locations or storage forms are available with your particular custodian. Ask for the named facility and agreement before treating a proposed option as settled.

Compare the location with the way you expect to exit. If you later sell to a different dealer or take a distribution, the depository and custodian must explain how the specific assets are released and shipped. Request the handling and insurance schedule for that movement as well as the annual storage fee. A cheaper vault can become a less attractive choice if the storage form or release process does not match your needs.

Allegiance does not guarantee future bids. That is a meaningful limit on any purchase comparison: the spread visible today does not fix tomorrow's offer, even if you use the same dealer. Ask for a current bid on the exact proposed product, note its conditions and compare a second buyer's net offer. For an IRA, confirm that the custodian permits the buyer and can arrange the vault release. The bid helps you understand current economics without promising an eventual result.

Fees and the price of metal

Request an itemized current quote instead of relying on an old estimate of annual fees. The account and vault charges depend on the arrangement you select. Get the custodian's own schedule and ask how it applies to the proposed storage and account balance.

The amount you pay may include several distinct costs:

  • The purchase price for each coin or bar, including the dealer's premium over the underlying metal value.
  • Account opening, administration or transaction charges from the custodian.
  • Recurring depository charges, which can depend on the storage arrangement.
  • Shipping, insurance, payment or handling charges stated in the applicable agreement.
  • The difference between the original cost and a later resale bid.

Allegiance's purchase premium and resale spread affect the transaction's cost. Neither term alone tells you the cost of your order. Ask for a time-stamped, itemized purchase quote and, if available, a contemporaneous bid for the same products. The gap is an illustration of an immediate round trip, not a promise of the price available when you sell later.

Also ask whether any waiver or free-metal offer changes the product selection or carries purchase requirements. A benefit can be valuable, but its advertised amount is not enough to assess the transaction. Compare the total price of the same products, the cash value of any qualifying benefit, and the charges after a waiver expires. Request the full promotion terms and confirm whether the offer applies to your account before counting it as a saving.

A worked example of two quotes

Imagine a buyer wants to move $30,000 into a metals IRA and receives two hypothetical quotes for exactly the same coins. One quote prices the coins at $29,000 and leaves $1,000 in cash; the other prices them at $28,500 and leaves $1,500. Assume the first account costs $300 per year and the second costs $400 per year. These invented inputs illustrate the arithmetic; they are not Allegiance quotes.

Hypothetical five-year comparison, identical coins
CostFirst quoteSecond quote
Coin purchase$29,000$28,500
Initial cash left$1,000$1,500
Annual fee$300$400
Five-year fees$1,500$2,000

The $500 purchase-price difference is offset by $500 in additional fees. If fees are paid from initial account cash, each account falls $500 short over five years. The buyer would need another permitted funding source or a sale within the IRA; this example does not assume that either is available or that a sale would avoid additional transaction costs. Interest, sale costs, taxes and metal-price changes are excluded.

Compare both quotes over the same holding period. If the real quotes use different products, quantities or storage arrangements, ask for matching proposals before making the calculation. If an account charges a percentage of value, model more than one balance instead of assuming a fixed annual amount. The fee calculator can help once the actual schedules are available.

The second account starts with more cash while holding the same quantity of metal, but its higher fees use that advantage over the modeled period. Ask how the custodian collects charges and what happens when account cash is insufficient. Selling a coin to pay an unexpected bill could change the allocation and incur transaction costs.

Direct orders and delivery

For a cash purchase, check the final order and delivery terms before submitting payment. Allegiance Gold offers direct transactions and shipment. The delivery date depends on the order and payment clearing. Ask for the current timing, carrier arrangements and the point at which title and risk transfer under your agreement.

A displayed price or cart is not necessarily a locked quote. Ask when the order becomes binding, whether the price can change before funds clear, and what cancellation terms apply.

Choose a secure destination and appropriate coverage before the shipment arrives. Access and insurance differ among home safes, bank facilities and commercial vaults. Ask your insurer about the actual policy rather than assuming household coverage includes bullion. For an IRA, follow the custodian's instructions rather than taking personal delivery of the account's metal.

Selling metal and taking money out

Allegiance Gold offers a sell-to-us process but does not guarantee future bids. Request the policy for your exact items: how to obtain a bid, how long it remains valid, whether shipping or testing costs apply, and when payment is made. A company willing to discuss a sale today does not promise a particular bid later.

For IRA assets, confirm the authorization procedure and whether another dealer can purchase them. Compare net proceeds after any custodian, shipping and handling charges. If the metal remains in the account until the sale settles, ask how the custodian records the transaction and when cash becomes available. Do not rely on a buyback advertisement as a substitute for the account's actual transaction procedure.

Selling an asset inside an IRA is different from distributing cash or metal out of the account. Withdrawal treatment depends on your account and individual circumstances. The IRS IRA distributions FAQ addresses withdrawals and additional tax in some situations. Confirm the plan with your custodian and tax adviser before instructing a distribution.

Alternatives to Allegiance Gold

Advantage Gold is worth comparing if you want an IRA dealer that has identified STRATA and Equity Trust. Confirm which custodians remain available from each company and obtain the same product and storage quotes. A choice of names matters only when the actual custodian accepts your account and its fees and service terms meet your needs.

BullionVault is an alternative for someone who prefers online trading and storage of professional-format bars. Its separate IRA custodian and withdrawal arrangements differ from an Allegiance dealer proposal, so compare the product form, vault costs and exit procedure before deciding.

Ask each provider to state when its quote expires and retain the conditions. Different products or storage services make a simple total insufficient.

Frequently asked questions

Does Allegiance Gold offer a gold IRA?

Yes. Allegiance assists with precious-metals IRA purchases. Before signing, obtain the custodian and vault names, funding instructions and complete fee schedule. Confirm whether your existing plan permits a partial transfer, and ask when the funds can be sent. Request the receiving custodian’s current instructions before directing payment.

What is the current account minimum?

Ask Allegiance Gold for its current minimum. Ask whether the company's current requirement applies to a first purchase, a transfer, the account balance or each subsequent order. Obtain the answer in writing along with the proposed product list and account schedule.

Can I have the metal delivered to my home?

Allegiance offers delivery for eligible direct purchases. A direct purchase is separate from an IRA holding. For an IRA, ask the custodian about approved possession and storage; taking personal possession can have distribution consequences depending on the facts. Obtain the account-specific procedure before requesting delivery.

Is the company required to buy my metal back?

Allegiance does not guarantee future bids. Before purchasing, request the present buyback terms, the procedure for obtaining a bid and any shipping or processing costs. A quote today does not establish the price you would receive in a later market.
