Gold IRA custodians and the dealers that use them

Your dealer sells you the metal. A separate trust company, the custodian, holds the IRA and reports it to the IRS. Find your dealer under the custodian it names, then check that custodian too.

Custodians and the dealers that name them

Each custodian below is a trust company, not a dealer. Under it are the dealers that name it on their own pages, with a link to the page that names it, recorded on October 24, 2026. A listing does not prove a dealer can open every account with that custodian today, so confirm the arrangement before you fund it.

Find out who can act on the account

A dealer can discuss products and coordinate a purchase without being the institution administering your IRA. Identify who receives the funds, authorizes orders, reports the account and instructs storage or distributions. The custodian and dealer guide explains those roles in more detail.

A dealer’s recommendation does not replace the account agreement. Check the named legal institution, its applicable regulator and the services it will provide. Avoid assuming that a marketing label establishes approval for every product or transaction.

Compare the cost of the account you would open

Request the schedule attached to the actual custodian and storage arrangement. A dealer’s example may use a particular administrator, statement choice or storage service. It cannot establish the cost of a different configuration.

Separate recurring charges from transactions, distributions, wires and storage. Then compare the bill with the account value and intended holding period. Keep the instructions for selling and moving assets with that cost schedule.

How we checked this. Dealer-reported custodian relationships are dated October 24, 2026. General account-role guidance was reviewed November 5, 2026. A reported relationship does not confirm current account availability, product acceptance or the fees for an individual arrangement.

Frequently asked questions

Is the dealer automatically the IRA custodian?

No. A dealer sells metal while a custodian administers the retirement account. A depository can have a separate storage role. Identify the actual legal institutions and their contracts rather than treating one sales conversation as the complete account relationship.

Does a named relationship prove current availability?

No. A dated reference records what the evidence establishes at that time. Availability, accepted products and account arrangements can change. Confirm that the named custodian will accept your particular account and transaction before transferring funds.

Does a custodian select the investment for me?

Account administration does not establish that an investment suits you. Verify the scope of any institution’s duties instead of assuming it has assessed a dealer or product on your behalf. Your own allocation, costs, liquidity needs and tax circumstances still require attention.
