Gold IRA annual fee comparison

This gold IRA annual fee comparison puts two complete annual bills beside the same account balance. Compare recurring charges before allowing a low opening fee to dominate the decision.

The quoted amounts start as examples. Replace them with written bills covering equivalent services.

$
Kept unchanged when calculating the fee percentage.
$
Include the same charge categories in both quotes.
$
Add the recurring custody and storage bills.
years
Whole years with unchanged charges.
Quote B total minus quote A-A positive value means B costs more
Quote A recurring bills-Annual charge multiplied by years
Quote B recurring bills-Same time period as quote A
Annual A bill as share of balance-A scale comparison, not a percentage tariff
Annual B bill as share of balance-Uses the same fixed account value

The balance and both annual bills are fixed. Charges are paid separately, without investment growth, lost compounding, opening fees, promotions, transaction costs or taxes.

Compare the same services in both bills

Administration and storage are sometimes shown together and sometimes separately. Identify what each number includes before entering it. A custodian-only quote cannot establish a saving against a quote that also includes vaulting and insurance. The gold IRA costs guide distinguishes these account bills from metal purchase and sale costs.

Resolve service differences first. The storage arrangement guide explains why a lower annual charge can accompany a different custody contract. Compare the required service, not merely the dollar amount attached to its name.

The effect of a fixed bill depends on the amount held in this account. The smaller-account gold IRA guide considers how that bill interacts with product size, minimums and the cash left after purchase.

Check what each recurring quote includes against the CFTC/FINRA fee questions. Storage, insurance and administration may be separate costs, so an annual total needs a consistent service basis.

A fixed bill takes a different share of different accounts

The percentage result divides the annual charge by your chosen balance. It illustrates the scale of the bill; it does not transform a fixed tariff into a percentage-based fee. A falling account value would raise that percentage even if the dollar bill remained unchanged.

This model does not estimate the growth you forgo by paying a fee from invested assets. It simply adds the quoted bills. The storage fee comparison handles a different task: a percentage charge with a minimum compared with a flat tariff.

Check when the fixed bill stops being fixed

A waiver, annual review, balance tier or change in the storage arrangement can make a single annual figure misleading. Ask which event changes the bill and obtain the schedule that applies afterward. For changing charges, a separate year-by-year calculation is more informative than extending one figure indefinitely.

The cheaper annual quote can still accompany a wider dealing gap. Add the purchase and sale terms to your decision with the gold spread checker. Service suitability and the right to instruct or move the account remain questions the fee total cannot answer.

How we checked this. The form compares two fixed recurring amounts over whole years and relates each annual bill to one stated balance. It does not add investment growth, dealing costs or changing tariffs. The CFTC/FINRA questions about complete metals costs were reviewed November 5, 2026.

Calculator FAQs

Does a negative difference mean quote B costs less?

Yes, for the recurring bills and period entered. The difference subtracts A from B. It does not compare opening charges, transaction prices, custody rights or whether either provider is suitable. Keep those requirements in the decision alongside the number.

Can I enter an introductory waiver?

You can illustrate a constant annual charge, but the result will repeat it over the full period. If a waiver ends or has qualification conditions, calculate the affected years separately and keep the conditions with the schedule before comparing the offers.

Why is the fee percentage based on a fixed balance?

That isolates the relative scale of each annual bill without inventing an investment return. Actual account values can change, which changes the proportion consumed by a fixed fee. The form does not predict that future balance or its tax consequences.

Is storage automatically included in the annual fee?

No. Read the schedule and obtain an itemized total. Storage, administration, insurance, transactions and distribution instructions may be charged separately. Both inputs need equivalent categories before their difference can support a useful comparison.

Can I use hypothetical account figures?

Yes. Choose sample balances and annual bills to see how the comparison behaves. No login, account number or statement is needed, and the calculation does not contact a financial institution. The figures alone cannot establish which services a quoted bill covers, so check those conditions separately before using real offers.
