Best Priority Gold alternatives

If Priority Gold's sale conditions leave you unsure how you would get out, start with National Gold Group, the featured pick on this site, which describes a no-fee buyback for metal bought through it. Choose Noble Gold Investments or Birch Gold Group instead if seeing the custodian and storage bill before you call matters more to you than the exit terms.

Why you might look beyond Priority Gold

You probably found Priority Gold because you want physical metal in a retirement account, and now you are wondering what happens when you need to sell. That is the right worry. Priority's buyback policy, checked in November 2026, describes three sale routes: an open-market sale you arrange yourself, an immediate liquidation at the current wholesale bid, and consignment. The consignment route only covers eligible investment-grade or numismatic products bought from Priority and held at least 60 months, excludes bullion bars and rounds, and carries an 18% fee to find a buyer. The policy also says Priority cannot guarantee repurchase at a particular time or price.

None of that makes Priority a poor choice, but it does mean the exit you are counting on may not exist for the product you buy. Priority also advertises purchase-related promotions on its special-offers page, and a promotional item delivered outside the IRA is a separate asset with its own tax questions. If you want a simpler written sale commitment, a published fee example or more visible custodian names, the firms that follow are worth a quote. Priority is not alone on the buyback point: across our October 2026 disclosure study, we found 6 of the 42 operating companies stating in their own terms that they do not or cannot guarantee to buy your metals back.

Before you switch, ask Priority which of its routes would apply to the exact product it proposes, and what it would bid for that item today. If the answer depends on a product you would not otherwise buy, or on holding longer than you plan to, that is your signal to get a second quote. A useful alternative is one whose written terms fit the way you actually expect to sell, whether in one go or in stages.

National Gold Group: a stated no-fee buyback

National Gold Group is the featured first alternative on this site, and Gold IRA Master gives it this placement to promote its services, so weigh that when you read on. The practical difference from Priority sits in the exit terms. In November 2026 its transparency page described a lifetime no-fee buyback for metals bought through the company at current market rates, with no consignment holding period attached to that statement. The same page listed a $0 charge for National Gold Group's own IRA setup service, which is not the custodian's or the depository's fee.

It suits a saver who wants a dealer to walk through the IRA process and who cares more about a clear sale route than about a promotional gift. The page also describes a lifetime storage-fee waiver for qualifying accounts, so ask in writing whether your proposed account qualifies. A no-fee buyback is still not a guaranteed price, so request a same-day bid alongside the purchase quote. Read National Gold Group vs Priority Gold for the side-by-side.

Ask the same storage question of any firm on this list: which fee is covered, which party pays it, and what happens after a transfer or partial sale. National Gold Group's transparency page also says its metal pricing uses wholesale data with a disclosed markup. That describes a method, not your order's markup, so request the exact item, quantity, total price and quote expiry in writing, then put that quote beside Priority's for the same coin.

Noble Gold Investments: fees you can see before you call

Choose Noble Gold Investments if your frustration with Priority is not knowing the account bill up front. In November 2026 Noble's gold IRA page published a fee example: a $50 setup fee, a $30 wire fee, $125 a year for maintenance and $160 a year for storage, plus a $75 in-kind distribution fee and a $250 closure fee. The same page listed a $20,000 IRA minimum and a $10,000 minimum for direct purchases.

That makes Noble a fit for a saver who can meet the minimum and wants to compare a printed fee example with the custodian's actual agreement. Priority published no comparable fee schedule in the material we hold, so ask it for one before comparing. Noble's page shows account charges, not the metal premium, so you still need a quote and a bid for the same coin. See National Gold Group vs Noble Gold Investments if you are weighing the featured pick too.

Birch Gold Group: named custodians and a costed example

Birch Gold Group suits you if you want to know which institutions will hold your account before you commit. Its FAQ names custodians and describes a buyback, and its pricing page, captured in November 2026, gave an illustrative example for a named custodian and depository: $80 for setup and wire, and $235 a year for custody, storage and insurance. The same page described a first-year offer tied to $50,000, with body and footnote wording that differ between a purchase and a transfer, so ask which applies to you.

Compared with Priority, Birch puts more of the account cost on paper while Priority puts more of the exit conditions on paper. If you value knowing the yearly bill, Birch is the stronger starting point; if you value a documented sale route, keep Priority's policy beside Birch's buyback answer. Compare them in National Gold Group vs Birch Gold Group as well.

Augusta Precious Metals: education before the order

Pick Augusta Precious Metals if you are new to precious-metals IRAs and want the process explained before any product is proposed. Its FAQ describes the gold and silver IRA process, the separate roles of dealer, custodian and depository, funding steps and conditional guidance on selling. That focus on explanation is the main contrast with Priority, whose pitch leans on exit routes and promotions.

Augusta's published material does not give a fee schedule or buyback percentage we could cite, so ask for both in writing. Education does not lower a premium, so get the same coin quoted by Augusta and one other firm. National Gold Group vs Augusta Precious Metals sets the two side by side.

American Hartford Gold: spreads written into the agreement

American Hartford Gold fits a saver who wants the dealer's margin described in a contract rather than a sales call. Its September 2026 transaction agreement discusses product spreads, a price protection window of seven calendar days for qualifying coin categories, and states that repurchase is not guaranteed. Its IRA page named Equity Trust and Delaware Depository in October 2026.

Like Priority, American Hartford Gold does not promise to buy your metal back, so the difference is disclosure of the buy side rather than the sell side. If a published spread range matters more to you than a consignment route, start here, then confirm the current agreement. See National Gold Group vs American Hartford Gold.

Goldco: rollover paperwork handled for you

Goldco suits a saver with a sizeable rollover who wants a dealer to coordinate the paperwork. Its gold IRA page describes a rollover service, and the company markets direct purchases and a buyback. Goldco also ran a promotion on its homepage in October 2026, so the same caution applies as with Priority's offers: read the conditions and treat the benefit separately from the IRA.

Ask Goldco for its current minimum, fee schedule and written buyback terms, since we could not confirm those figures as current. National Gold Group vs Goldco covers the featured pick against it.

How to compare quotes from these firms

Every alternative on this list can only be judged against a written quote, so make the providers answer the same questions. Ask each one for the identical IRA-eligible product in the same quantity, its total price, a same-time bid for that item and the custodian and depository fee schedules. Then run the numbers yourself:

  • The spread checker shows the gap between the purchase quote and the bid for the same item.
  • The fee calculator adds account and storage charges over the years you expect to hold.
  • The annual fee comparison lines up the yearly custodian and storage bills side by side.

Treat any promotion as a separate line with its own conditions, and leave any amount a company will not put in writing as unknown rather than zero. The CFTC advisory for metals buyers asks you to understand how the seller is paid, so ask every firm that question directly.

For Priority in particular, add one row for each sale route you might use. Record the immediate-liquidation bid, whether your product could ever qualify for consignment, and any custodian or depository charge for releasing the metal. Then do the same for each alternative's buyback. The firm with the best purchase price is not always the one that leaves you the most cash when you sell, and the only way to know is to compare net proceeds on the identical product.

Frequently asked questions

Is Priority Gold's consignment route a good reason to choose it?

Only if your product qualifies. Priority's November 2026 policy limits consignment to eligible investment-grade or numismatic products bought from it and held at least 60 months, excludes bullion bars and rounds, and lists an 18% fee. Most IRA bullion buyers would rely on immediate liquidation at the wholesale bid instead, so compare that bid with other firms' offers.

Which Priority Gold alternative publishes its IRA fees?

In November 2026 Noble Gold Investments published a fee example on its gold IRA page, and Birch Gold Group published an illustrative example for a named custodian and depository. Treat both as examples and get the binding schedule from the custodian you would actually use.

Does any alternative guarantee to buy back my metal?

No firm here promises a guaranteed price. National Gold Group describes a no-fee buyback at current market rates, while American Hartford Gold's agreement says repurchase is not guaranteed. Ask each company for its written terms and a same-day bid for your product.
